Collection of smell memories of home and first smell memories of London-Britain by Semra Eren-Nijhar https://bit.ly/2WpQz1c
“Smell is a tool of our belonging, identity and heritage and therefore it is important to find out how we relate to our olfactory heritage.”

My first smell memory is the Turkish citrus ‘kolonya – cologne’ and smell of coffee. These odours carry great significance and are a reflection of my upbringing in Turkey and Germany. They still play a great part in connecting me with my past, present and the future. And that’s why I was inspired to the small focus research on our olfactory heritage.

My scent memory is wearing Revlon CHARLIE in my twenties ( I am now 70) I loved the smell but then I became pregnant with my first child and thereafter could never wear it again because the smell just made me feel as you do in the early stages of pregnancy … nauseous! Such a shame …but not an unhappy memory . Just one that I have stored .
I loved SAMSARA after that for many years and still have a body lotion left , I don’t use it but the smell transports me back to a younger life. A heady smell . I found my signature perfume in my 40’s and still wear it to this day Chanel ALLURE , I do not feel dressed without it but of course after wearing it for so many years I cannot smell it so much but I love the subtleness of it .
